Getting to know Commercial Property Advisor: Vicky Gouldney

As part of our “Getting to Know” series today we find out more about Vicky Gouldney, who has been with The Pioneer Group since 2012 when she started as a repairs assistant.

With her previous experience at a gas company serving housing associations, Vicky quickly settled into her role and progressed to a Customer 1st Advisor. After a secondment to The Pioneer Group’s Market Rent and Commercial Management team, she has never looked back. Here we find out more about what makes Vicky an invaluable part of our organisation!

What does a typical day at work look like for you and your team?

No two days are the same in our team. We’re in constant contact with tenants, so could be dealing with tenant enquiries, management issues, rent accounts and/or new lettings. We look after our market rent properties, organising advertisements to match prospective tenants with our homes. We also work closely with the Asset Management and Development team to ensure that the properties are back to our great, safe standards before re-letting;

How does your team help the communities that we work in?

The Pioneer Group provides affordable, well-maintained properties and a range of different options to all residents, from families to first time renters. Within Stockland Green, for example, we offer Co-Living as part of a regeneration initiative. Our Co-Living tenants rent a high-quality, en-suite room in a shared development but share communal facilities such as kitchens and living areas. This is a fabulous new alternative to gaining affordable independence in a generation where getting onto the property ladder is becoming increasingly difficult.

What are some personal values that are important to you?

Honesty, trustworthiness and kindness have always been important traits that I believe that I have, and value in others. I would like to be treated as I would treat others.

What motivates you to be your best self?

I really like the feeling I get when helping others. Knowing that people can come to me for an honest view, and that they respect and rely on me – this really drives me.

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An actress. I really wanted to play different parts, and also liked singing. I went to a Saturday drama school in Tamworth when I was younger and was in some performances, but then life just took over.

What is your favourite memory of being involved in your community?

Helping organise Stockland Green Community Awards over four years. We invited residents and our teams to nominate people and good causes for the community. Our team would be instrumental in hosting the awards, and it was great to reward residents for all the great work being done within the community.

What approach do you take to look after your mental wellbeing?

I take time to step away from any stressful situations. Reading and walking the dog really help.

What is one item on your bucket list?

I have so many! I would love to go travelling, and take in places like Sri Lanka, Madagascar and Thailand.

Who is an inspirational individual you look up to?

My mum. She’s a really lovely and good person. Even today, she’s still volunteers at the local hospice!

How do you relax outside of work?

Spending time with family and friends over a drink and some food.

What do you enjoy about being part of The Pioneer Group?

The stronger community that we are building. I love what we do as an organisation and am really proud of the COVID-19 response. It shows the true community spirit that many areas would envy.
