14 new apartments on Slade Road given the green light

An exciting new development project at 411 Slade Road has received planning permission, with work commencing on 14 new apartments in early 2020.

The initiative is being driven by Stockland Green Opportunity Housing and Training (SGOHT), a subsidiary of The Pioneer Group, which supports the community flourish by providing excellent homes and creating development and training opportunities.

The new apartments will be available around Christmas 2020 and will transform the brownfield site previously owned by the NHS.

After laying derelict for a number of years, the former NHS Outpatients Clinic was granted planning permission following an extensive consultation with residents.

Providing much needed housing in an area with high demand, the new building will consist of 8 two-bed and 6 one-bed apartments that will be made available via the Rent to Buy tenure.

Sarah Johnson Chair of SGOHT, comments:

The new 411 Slade Road development reflects our commitment to the community where we are delivering high quality accommodation to expand the range of housing opportunities for local residents. The planning permission has received enthusiastic support from residents, and we are looking forward to further revitalising the area.

We continue to invest in the Community to add to our previously renovated properties that we provide via our new Co-Living tenure, where tenants rent a room with en-suite in a development but share communal facilities such as the kitchen and garden. This provides affordable independence at a time when getting onto the property ladder is becoming increasingly difficult

SGOHT also operates the thriving Highfield Community Centre, which offers a full programme of community groups meeting for martial arts for kids, yoga, drama, autism support, over 50’s and much more.
